How Ghana's Workplaces Fail Victims of Sexual Harassment
Despite existing laws , many victims of workplace harassment choose to remain silent due to fear of retaliation
In today’s newsletter: Ghana does not have a good history when it comes to sexual harassment in the workplace.
There have been numerous stories in the past about male superiors creating a toxic workplace environment for their employees. Many victims, for fear of repercussions, choose not to report incidents.
These victims, most of the time, develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which affects their work performance and mental health.
For our feature story, we spoke to victims about their experiences and looked at why they chose not to report. We also spoke to experts about the effects Ghana's Patriarchal culture might play a factor in continued sexual harassment incidents
